Introduction
In our world, prominent people are celebrated for their legendary character or skill sets. We read of people who are characterised with peculiar wisdom, skill, courage, and personality and we even want to emulate them by been their mentees. We appreciate and celebrate these people because they had or have something we can take from them.
One of the most prominent personality and legendary characterised with selflessness, most merciful, servanthood and saviour in the history of humanity in whom millions of people appreciate and celebrate globally every year is no other than the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The lives of millions of people centre and revolve around their faith in Jesus Christ. Lives have been transformed from the worse to an excellent state, the poor is not only fulfilled in his contentment but look forwards to the priceless wealth that linger before him with Father in heaven, the weak not only is strengthen in the physical form but also rejoice in his spiritual vitality, the foolish becomes wise, the wicked is tamed to be merciful and other excellent transformations.
This is not a story telling convocation [John 21:25] but the reality of what everyone experience when you surrender your life to the saviour Jesus Christ.
What do we stand to gain from Jesus Christ?
The Bible makes us understand that all have sinned [Romans 3:10; 23] and therefore need redemption of our souls that are sold out to the evil one. The very season of not knowing Jesus and heeding to His call compromises one’s soul and therefore makes one a sinner [Matthew 3:16-17; 5:17:5; 1 John 5:9]. The every being to give that redemption is Jesus Christ in whom the whole world is saved [John 3:18; I John 3:5; II Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:22]. The ultimate gift that Jesus is willing and prepared to give you is the gift of life after this earthly life [Hebrews 9:27-28; Col. 1:13].
God does not take pleasure in the death of the unrighteous [Ezekiel 18:23-24; 33:11]. He has made a provision for the unrighteous to repent and and save his soul by seeking the Lord [Acts 2:38].
What does Jesus Christ need from you?
Jesus Christ came to the world to sacrifice Himself for humanity so that you will be;
1. Redeemed from the power of darkness - Colossians 1:13; I John 1:5,6
2. Exonerated (not condemned) and not perish in the world - John 3:18
3. To walk in the light - John 3:19-21; I John 1:7,8
4. Walk in the call of Jesus Christ - Ephesians 4:1-3
5. Save you from all unrighteousness - I John 1:9,10
How do you become His and be saved?
This is a question that has been asked in time past by different people in differing situations [Luke 18:18; Acts 2:37; 16:30; 22:10]. Any time this question came up, it was one’s wilful desire to please and be acceptable to God.
As humans, our own will cannot please and be accepted to God unless we allow ourselves for Him to direct our path [Jeremiah 10:23-24]. For this reason, the question of how to become God’s own or be saved becomes a question of necessity, personal willingness to be God’s own and to be subjected to His divine rule.
We get the true answer when the message of the cross (Jesus Christ) is been preached [I Corinthians 1:21; Romans 10:14-15] to the world. The message of our Lord Jesus Christ is to be believed [Mark 16:16; John 3:18] by whom it is been preached and should have a willing heart to repent (from the world to Christ and also from the old or bad ways to good - Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30). At this point the hearer is required to make known his faith by confessing Christ as the true Son from God, in whom the world is been saved [Romans 10:9-10]. The hearer’s confession opens up the way for baptism, where one’s sin is cleansed from all unrighteousness [Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-11].
It is important also that the new believer in Jesus Christ continue in His teachings so that the relationship with Christ is not lost again through ignorance of His word [II Timothy 3:16].
Conclusion
Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father (God). There is no other way to get to the Father as described by the scriptures. Anyone who wishes to save his life need to heed to the pattern prescribed by the scriptures and avoid heeding to the unscriptural patterns provided by the stained human minds.
John 14:6-7 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
