Text: Jeremiah 30:3, 5, 17
“For behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, says the Lord, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it…. Thus says the Lord: We have heard a cry of panic, of terror, and no peace…. For I will restore health to you, and your wounds I will heal, declares the Lord, because they have called you an outcast: It is Zion, for whom no one cares!”
This was a time in the life of the Israelites where their future was bleak and Babylonia captivity beckons them with lost hope for ages. The Lord was going to need to exile the people and send them out of their country to Babylon. Life would never be the same for these people. Not even repentance could let them stay in the land. At this point of their blur future and horrible situations that wait them, God brings in a consolation. And thus our devotion for today -- “Restoration of God’s people”.
In Jeremiah chapter 30 we see God encouraging his people to “Look Past Now to See Later.” The Israelites were to recount the glorious might of God in their lives to foresee the promised future before them in their difficult situation. Their sins have warranted their current situation but the merciful God has promised a brighter future.
As we are all aware of the trial times the world now faces (including us as Christians). Many are totally distressed about the Corona virus pandemic which is a present reality troubling the world to the core. This has even accounted for a ban on our gatherings and other social gatherings. These are hard times, difficult and confusing situations. But for a true Christian, we have a glorious future. God restores things that have been lost, damaged or destroyed in the lives of His people. He knows us very well to leave us alone to go through these trial times. Let us not forget that He is forever with us and restores whatever we lose when we have faith and stay in Him patiently with prayers.
God bless us with understanding in His word us we read and meditate on them daily. Have a blessed day!!
